May Glassbrook Cleanup: 32 Hearty Volunteers!

If “Pride is Visual” as Hayward Mayor Michael Sweeney contends, then 32 students, parents and volunteers significantly increased our neighborhood pride with their outstanding effort on Saturday May 11, 2013!  They cleaned 5 miles of streets and made the neighborhood look spotless!

This Crew of Cal State East Bay Students were so enthusiastic about their volunteer effort at Glassbrook Cleanup last month, that they showed up for our May event and cleaned Patrick Road. Thank you !

And special thanks to Principal Jessica Saavedra for her always awesome and thoroughly excellent support!  We are in debt to Streets Department Crew Member Jerry who hauled away couches, concrete blocks, chairs, shelves, downed tree limbs and bags upon bags of litter!  We send a “shout out” to Justin who labored in the hot sun to pull up all the weeds that were yucking up our new mulching out on Huntwood.   It looks great again!  And we can’t thank enough Rosalva Ruiz, Maria Fernanda Ruiz, and Maria Radilla for their excellent organizing work.  Along with myself, Greg Galati, they are the Glassbrook Cleanup Team Co-Captains..  And we send out a prayer for a return to good health for original team member Dick Hammer.  Great to see you walking the neighborhood again Dick!
