NEXT GLASSBROOK EVENT: SATURDAY OCTOBER 13 — All Hands on Deck for Major TREE PLANTING & CLEANUP!

We will be planting Swamp Myrtles along the Railroad Tracks at Huntwood near Schafer.   Special Thanks to volunteer David Ringo for envisioning a tree-lined Huntwood (along the previously barren section from Schafer to Harris, and down Leidig Court), and working diligently  to make this vision a reality!   Thanks to David and donations from generous neighbors, friends of the Glassbrook Cleanup Team, and the City of Hayward, over 125 Swamp Myrtles and Redwoods in total will grace Huntwood / Leidig Court !

David has also partnered with the City to water the 56  trees that were planted last fall!   The City has rewarded David for his excellent efforts by granting him a tree-watering retirement and the City will now do all the watering through the coming year.

Join us SAT OCT 13!:

8:30 am Pancake Breakfast provided by Councilman Mark Salinas and Wonderful Kid’s Breakfast Club volunteers
9:00 am -11:00 am Neighborhood Cleanup and Tree Planting:
Join us to tackle the ongoing litter problems in our neighborhood!  Our Volunteers will also plant 36 Swamp Myrtle Trees along the Railroad Tracks on Huntwood between Schafer and Shepherd!  And City crews will plant an additional 34 Redwoods on Leidig Court, South of Huntwood at Harris.  Special thanks to the City of Hayward and Landscape Division Director Tom Rossi, and generous neighbors for donating this latest installment of trees.  In addition to last years plantings, the new additions will bring us to over 125 new trees lining Huntwood along the tracks.  This dynamic partnership between neighbors and the City of Hayward will have resulted in nearly 100 trees being planted on Huntwood (between Schafer and Harris) in the past year!   We can enjoy a tree-lined boulevard that will grow in beauty over the years!  Our Friend Tim Doughty and Landscape Division staff will train and assist us in the planting effort on Saturday.   We will provide shovels, but do bring gloves and shovels from home if you have them!

Saturday we will also clean our regular 5 miles of streets! Special Thanks to Sabrina Aranda-Smith and her AmeriCorps volunteers for their great help too!
Meet at the Glassbrook Multipurpose Room at 975 Schafer Road!
