Two volunteers enjoy hot-off-the-griddle pancakes provided by Councilman Mark Salinas’ outstanding Kids Breakfast Club Volunteers! Councilman Salinas brought 25 volunteers who produced a spectacularly delicious and well-organized breakfast!
Over 14o Glassbrook Parents and Students were served and then went on to clean 5 miles of local streets!
Volunteers sat at the table of the street they wanted to clean.
Thanks to the Pancake Breakfast we had our best turnout ever! We used all 100 litter grabbers and 100 vests given to us by the City of Hayward Grant which established our Glassbrook Neighborhood Cleanup several years ago!
Volunteers placed 1000 doorknob hangers on apartment and home doorknobs to alert neighbors of the School’s monthly cleanup effort and to ask neighbors to pitch in by not littering or dumping. The doorknob hangers were written in Spanish and English.
The best news of all is that Councilman Salinas is so impressed with our efforts that he will bring his Kids Breakfast Club team of volunteers each month to serve our Cleanup Volunteers pancakes, eggs and bacon before each of our once-a-month cleanups (Starting Feb 2012 !) AMAZING!
THANK YOU HAYWARD CITY COUNCILMAN MARK SALINAS!
And special thanks to Principal Ruben Pulido and Glassbrook Families for their excellent service ethic!
